DSFS Board Member
DSFS Board of Directors Guidelines
This is an unpaid position.
The Dam Short Film Society’s board of directors is a working board. A board member position is not an honorary title. We expect all board members to contribute time and energy to make the annual Dam Short Film Festival a reality. This includes:
- Attending board meetings in-person or virtually. Board meetings generally occur once a month.
- Taking on additional responsibilities that fit the member’s expertise and interest. For example, board members serve on ancillary committees, plan and track finances, undertake community outreach, guide staff members with their tasks, and so on.
- Attend and help manage the film festival, which runs 5-6 days each February. Board members are the face of the festival and should be present to interact with sponsors, guest filmmakers, and attendees. The festival is a community- and filmmaker-oriented event, and the board’s presence is a critical element.
- Board members generally need to contribute 10 -20 hours a month to their festival responsibilities. This could increase around festival time.
We are currently looking to expand the board. We will consider anyone interested and the board works under the assumption that an individual board member will assume duties that best fit their skills and experience.
Potential Board positions we are looking to fill include:
- Director of Community Relations
- Director of Communications
- Tech Director
- Director of Filmmaker Relations
- Director of Marketing
