Film Festival Gets ‘Dam’ Serious About Virtual Reality

Boulder City’s Dam Short Film Festival is adding a Virtual Reality series to its lineup in 2018.

Boulder City, NV (PRWEB) November 14, 2017 — The 14th Annual Dam Short Film Festival is adding an element of Virtual Reality (VR) to its 2018 program. With the consideration of technological advances within the movie industry, the Festival’s board wanted to broaden the experience for ticket holders, sponsors and industry peers. Adding VR experience and an additional music video series to the agenda this year, the Dam Short Film Festival has found a way to elevate its existing 4-days of fun and film international roster.

“Bad Moon Booking successfully tested the music experience last year, and during the late spring our Board of Directors visited other festivals also introducing a Virtual Reality media experience for sponsors and audience. By expanding the festival with these two mediums, our attending audience and sponsors are going to see more depth and continued growth,” said Lee Lanier, Founder of the Dam Short Film Festival.

The Dam Short Film Festival will run from February 8th – 11th of 2018 at the historic Boulder Theatre, which was built in 1933. The Theatre is owned and operated by Hollywood royalty, Desi Arnaz Jr. and is known for its “ historical relevance, as well as its modern resilience” according to Nevada Magazine.

“Over ten grand in earned media value exists for Festival, adding the Virtual Reality and music video platforms is extensively going to grow the corporate branding and talent visibility opportunities for sponsors and filmmakers alike. VR is huge right now. In fact, Hulu recently announced two new SyFY shows, shot in 360 video, due for release via Hulu’s own VR app. Our Festival is going to be right on the forward-thinking crest of this medium as the 2018 film festival kicks in,” said Tanya Vece, Publicist for the Dam Short Film Festival.

Sponsorship opportunities and press credentials for the 2018 Dam Short Film Festival will be extremely limited this year.
